1/4 of the way there!

Jan2720123:47 p.m.

Well the plan for today was 9miles, I'm working the weekend so this week has been rather messed up running, only wednesday off so far.  So the plan: 4 laps around sefton park, each lap being 2.3miles.  So at 10:50am I set off on my run, the first mile went well enough I was listening to my music so was happilt plodding along, between mile 1 and 2 a van went past me, going straight through a puddle and soaking me, so needless to say I was rather pissed off wanted to cry due to anger and knowing I had 8miles more to go... Bad times...

Got back to my car, marking 1 lap done! 3 to go.  Second lap went well, was managing not to walk untill the last part when the mind battle won.  Third lap I found harder, starting to feel a few sore bits and getting a bit fed up, walked quite a few parts on this lap, and remember feeling my hip twinging a bit, which worried me to start off with, I also had to stop at one point to undo the zips on my running tights after they'd rubbed.  So back round to the car, 3 laps done 1 to go, this lap didnt go too badly, I walked a few times and did find it quite hard at times but I kept on going and towards the end agreed with myself that if I had to walk I was only allowed to walk until the next tree (the trees are all quite close) this method worked quite well run for a while walk one tree, run again walk for a tree, I heard a loud crunch on this lap, which obviously caught my attention, I turned round to see a that a BT van had just driven into the back of the car in front at a junction, whoops! carried on going and soon enough I got back to my car, 9.2miles done in just under 2 hours (I think it was about 1:58).

I got home and was shivvering quite a bit, not helped by the people on my doorstep when I arrived home wanting to sell me internet for £5 more than we're paying... So jumped in a hot shower and then had some lunch (Tomato soup and bread if you were wondering).

I was considering going out this afternoon to give blood and get a new sports bag, but at about 2:45pm I started feeling extreemily tired so decided to relax for now instead, plus its raining outside, and I had a dilema about parking in town or getting a bus, and where to park with either option, so for now I'll just relax, think my legs deserve a bit of a rest.  20miles done this week and I'm 1/4 of the way there now, 4 weeks of training done, 12 weeks of training to go :D

Hope you all have a good long run this week, best wishes, Avs x

  • Avs123 'I needed something fast to eat that didn't take too much effort as I was tired from running, though I think you're very much right as I dont have much energy now and am feeling quite tired, I'll make some dinner soon, though I dont know what to have :s Thank you for the great effort compliment, I'm very happy with myself having happily and fully completed another week of training, feels great (last time I trained I missed out quite a few runs, was looking back and I had missed 2 this week including my long run, which should only have been 8miles :P ). I have realised the more I put in now the easier it'll be on Marathon day :D' added 27th Jan 2012

  • MadonnaGaGa 'Well done Avs! The trouble with doing laps is that its easy to forget just how far you have run, so next time you are out driving somewhere far, just note on the car tripometer how far 9 miles actually is, its a looooooong way!!!! Well done. I have a shorter one today of 7 miles, should be a bit easier than last weeks 10. X' added 28th Jan 2012

  • Avs123 'Thanks Claire, my legs are a bit sore today, am planning to go out with Liam for a nice meal tonight after work as a treat. Mrs Doubtfire I hope your run goes well today, it's freezing out there, actually made me a bit happy this morning knowing I'd done my long run and didn't have to freeze to death out there. How long is your next run meant to be? I'm trying to work out what to do for mine think it should only be 10, but might try for 11 so I can drop down in a few weeks for a slight rest :)' added 28th Jan 2012
