Trainign Sunday

Aug1720098:13 a.m.

PT'M' came over yesterday and we headed out on the bikes. We did roughly 40K in 2 hours which we were quite pleased with. The hills were nothing like last weeks in the Peaks but it was a good ride. My legs felt strong and although I was puffing up some hills it felt fine.

After a quick spot of lunch, we headed down to the local canoe club where I got my first taste of canoeing for about 15 years. We were in a double canoe which is similar to what we will be using on the challenge. We seemd to get it together OK and we could get the thing going in the right direction most of the time. The kayaking will be tough but I am pleased that we have given it a go and know we can do it.

I was very pleased that we did not end up falling in, especially as we saw two snakes swimming across the river. I know they were not pythons and probably not even poisonous but being in water and coming face to face with a snake (however small) would not be my idea of fun

One thing I noticed when i got home though was that I had burst a blood vessel in my left eye. I hope it was just the exercise. The eye is a bit blurry today but I'm sure it will clear fine.

The plan is plenty of CV again this week and I need to buy a new pair of walking shoes and break them in before the event. Great!
