Inching along

Dec1020096:30 p.m.

Set out for the planned 4.4 miler that has become the "banker". Oh no! I used the "B" word! Gasp! Horror! "**!$$%**$"s the lot of them I hear you say!

So, to clear something up - if you work for a bank, are you automatically the Spawn of Satan or the product of some genetic accident where sloaths, hyenas, cockroaches and skunks were morphed together? If the answer to my question is "No" then I can happily confess that my employer is a bank. If the answer if "Yes", then I am pleased to announce that I have had a long and fruitful career to date working as a professional badger groomer!

Anyway, back to today's run ... part 1 done in 8:37 @ 9:41, part 2 done in 11:28 @ 9:02, part 3 done in 11:30 @ 8:58, and part 4 done in ...... well I took an ad hoc diversion to add about 0.4 of a mile on to the ba... "standard" route, so 12:47 @ 9:16.  All told 4.82miles in 44:22 @ 9:12 with AveHR 162.  The longest run I've done since April 26th!!!  Still nothing to right home about, but progress is progress.

Thoughts have turned to making next run at the weekend a 5+ miler, but not too much further ... inch by inch is a sinch, yard by yard is hard - not sure that really works as a running phrase actually!

Good times! ... Got form through from CLIC for Bath Half, so will try to remember to fill that out over the weekend. So hopefully all will be well to do my "Birth Half" (born in Bradford-Upon-Avon, now home to the delightful Simone of course), Bristol being my "Home Half" and the GNR being my "InLaws Half".

  • simonedumergue 'Ooh aren't you brave confessing to being a banker...! We'll skip over that part of your post :-) Great news about the Bath Half. Would be great to meet up with the various Real Buzzers running it if anyone fancies it. Good run - you can definitely shoot for 5+ at weekend: "inch by inch is a sinch, yard by yard is hard.. so maybe mile by mile is a smile - better than mile by mile gives you piles" Sorry. No idea why I typed that.....' added 10th Dec 2009

  • JSIMMONDS 'You know what they say: a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. I do reckon you need a more uplifting mantra than your inches and miles one though - I can't see that seeing you through the Wall !' added 14th Dec 2009
