Send for the Daffyds

Dec1520092:31 p.m.

I'm sure there will be lots of posts today that may point out the significant drop in temperature that appears to have occurred.  I however came to work armed only with shorts and a long sleeved running top!  Really could have done with my Daffyds (my term of endearment for my running leggings that make me look like the only "one" in the village!).

Firstly, a catch up ..

Weekend's planned 5+ miler didn't happen. Ended up going to Maidenhead straight after Finn's footie, and ended up purchasing ...

Wendy v happy bunny!

Then, got stuck on the M25 (car park situation for over an hour), then went round to friends to watch X Factor final.

Sunday was when I was going to do run, but Finn lodged a protest that he had been stuck in a car for a lot of the previous day and that he wanted to spend all day with Wendy and I doing Christmasy things - he's 6 1/2 and the magic of Christmas is at an all time high - so tree was bought, lights put up (inside and out) and Polar Express was watched. @Simone - not sure what pot this excuse falls into, but I have no guilt!

Did manage to get a game of indoor cricket in the evening - another victory!

Have cut a plan using RunnersWorld SmartCoach to take me through to 7th March and Bath Half. Will make some minor modifications, but a good basis.

Day 1 of that plan was today and I was embarrassed to see 2 miles @ 10:32 on it. So, I did 3.34 miles in 29m53s @ 8:57 min/mi. As mentioned earlier, it was v cold, and I was really not particularly up for it, but as it turned out it wasn't actually that bad. Forgot running watch today, so have no idea about HRs etc. Age is really catching up - my memory is fading fast.

  • simonedumergue 'That is taking spontaneous Christmas shopping a little far :-) Did you plan to buy a Christmas tree and end up buying a mini instead?! I think we can cut you some slack on the 'excuses' front - have to put kids and Christmas first. I think my two are close to excitement exploding thresholds (aged 5 and 7)!! Time for me to drag out the dodgy winter hat soon :-)' added 15th Dec 2009
