Time for a breather

Jul2520105:12 p.m.

I have been loving all this warm weather - exactly what i was hoping for this summer and its given me a bit more warm running experience. I've really enjoyed it - but I'm also very aware that its still way cooler in London than it will be in the desert - all very very scary.

I'm quite happy with how the last six weeks training has gone. I've done a bit of base building. I started building the mileage back up over the last couple of weeks and have combined this with some good weights work with my trainer. I've added in a cardio class to help with the calorie burning and have managed to loose just a little bit of weight - not as much as planned but its something. IN the last couple of weeks I've checked out some new routes on the north downs way. This has meant a bit less mileage than I'd planned as I've spent time checking maps on my way - but I now have some nice new off road options to use for some distance in august.

So I'm sitting here with a nice coffee watching the Tour on the telly feeling pretty satisfied with my efforts. A bit more to come I think and I want to push harder in august. First things first though - off to Cambridge folk fest on Thursday. I cannot wait! No trainers, no lycra in the rucksack! When I get back from afew days of cider and bad food though I'm going to take my MdS kit off to the south downs for three days on the south downs way. I'm not planning on hammering it too hard(I am on holiday after all!)  but will be a good opportunity to get used to some kit weight, camping food and my new super lightweight stove. Hope the weather holds up for all this fun!

Right...time for another coffee! I'll be back to let you all know how the south downs exploration went - presuming I get back in one piece!

happy sunny running all!
