Cleaning out the toxins for success

As I write this I’m in the midst of changing gyms which is very exciting….for me anyway. I’ll be honest, the gym I’ve been in for the last year hasn’t been the ‘right’ gym for me, and if you’ve experienced a toxic workplace you’ll know what I mean. You spend so much time at your workplace it’s essential you’re part of a positive healthy workplace! If you have health and fitness goals (or any goals), it’s critical that you have positive surroundings, and here is why.
You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with!
Your health and fitness journey is made a lot easier if your friends, family, work colleges and/or partner are motivated and striving just as hard as you. Have a look at the 5 people that you spend the most time with. Do they reflect you? Are they fit, healthy and motivated? Do they give you the confidence to push outside your comfort zone? Or are they holding you back and making it harder for you to reach that ultimate pinnacle of health?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling you to go out and get rid of all your friends and start again but the inclusion of a fit, healthy and motivated friend will make a massive difference to you reaching those goals.
I live in Bondi and LOVE meeting new people but unfortunately there are some that I have no interest in catching up with again. It’s those toxic, negative people that sit on the ‘hill’ at the north end of Bondi beach and scrutinise every one that walks past only to make feel better about themselves…. albeit temporarily. It’s those that are constantly shutting down your health and fitness goals and your desire to be better because they can’t motivate themselves to take on life. Get rid of them!

For me I look at those people and then I look at my two best mates Proudy and Macca. These two blokes are honestly the world’s best blokes who are constantly positive and happy within themselves and give me the confidence to tackle all that life has to offer. It’s a no brainer who I would rather hang out with. In fact I use to have these ‘toxic’ people in my life but two years ago I got rid of them and ever since then I’ve never been happier, healthier, stronger and fitter.
If you choose (yes you have the choice) to hang out with a group of fit, healthy, positive and motivated people who believe in taking responsibility for their lives, you’ll naturally become a more proactive individual who will shape your own future. If you hang out with a bunch of pessimists who believe the world is out to get them and there is nothing worthwhile, you will never reach your health and fitness goals.
The choice is yours. Surround yourself with the best team and you’ll get the best results!
See you next week!

fatherjack 'I agree, it pays to surround yourself with positivity, but I think I'd go nuts if I just surrounded myself with healthy types who talked nothing but exercise and healthy eating. It's good to chill out with some beer friends rather than just gym friends.' added 2nd Jul 2011

Blake_Worrall_Thompson 'haha, I absolutely agree fatherjack. I'd b the first one to hang out with my mates and talk about anything but exercise and healthy eating. There is nothing quite like balance! ' added 14th Jul 2011
