Let it snow....

Jan0620104:28 p.m.

Let it snow, let it snow as Dean Martin sings BUT not until next week in Austria please!! I'm off for an impromptu ski holiday next week, totally unexpected as I am also going for a week on the 23rd Jan. But an opportunity came along and I reasoned with myself that it was during the early weeks of training, the hotel has a treadmill and I will be getting loads of exercise on the slopes and its my 40th year afterall so a pressie to myself. Decision took about 30secs to make in my head but also got the thumbs up from Deano and my other running buddies. I just hope Gatwick is open unlike this morning.

This snow is seriously hampering running outdoors and it was to the treadmill I trudged this afternoon to complete the session I missed from yesterday, 6 miles starting easy and finishing faster.

I eventually got myself sorted on the treadmill. Lots of unnecessary faffing with earphones, the earphone cable, water and hair. I had worked out how to convert my min mile pace to kph, not easy I must say and thats even with using a website and getting Deano to check and confirm.

The session stated it should also be relatively easy so I decided to split it into two and ran the first 30m mins at around 9.30 min mile pace and the second 30 mins at 9 min mile pace and covered around 10.4k (6.4 miles) in 60 mins. It was a bit of a slog but good to get it done and marked off the schedule.

Its meant to be a club night tomorrow but I think I will hit the gym again as unless there is a major thaw on it will be too dangerous out on those snowy streets.

A reward for todays effort is to break open the latest copy of RW and get the kettle on.

Stay safe in the snow.

BS:-)
