…a recovery day & a bit of weight training!!

Tightness in my tensor fascia lata and gluteus maximus apparently!
My hip/buttock felt slightly better today so I was so tempted to go out for a run at lunch. I made sure the guys were still going without me, no excuses but I was gutted not to be joining them, well kind of. Instead I went to the work gym with my colleague Hamish who said he’d help me out with a weights session – this is not something my body is accustom to! It was quite good fun in a novelty kind of way.
Not sure I pushed by self thought, Hamish was lifting the weights until it burns (a technical term I'm told!) while I was quite happily remaining in my comfort zone (though pulling the right faces!). We did some bench presses, triceps curls and the ones where you lift it over your head, hmmmm!!
I had my sport massage tonight and yes, it hurt!! It appears that it is tightness in the muscles at the top of my IB Band that are causing me pain so lots of prodding and kneading in that area, owwwww!!!!! Now got my feet up and chilling out for the rest of the evening:)

Ruth22 'oh yes, sports massage only works if it REALLY hurts! Try investing in a foam roller for your IB band - they really work & it's the sort of injury you need to keep at bay, if it gets a grip you're in trouble.' added 7th Feb 2012
