The makers of Tom Cruise's latest movie have been banned from filming in Germany because of the Top Gun actors weird Scientology beliefs, which the German Defence Ministry class as 'making money out of religion'. Producers have appealed against this, saying that 'Germany is the only place where they can do the story justice' and Cruise's role in the movie will be 'Heroic and principled'.
Cruise is set to play Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg in Valkyrie, leader of the 1944 plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler using a bomb hidden in a briefcase, scheduled for release next year. But there has already been contraversy surrounding his role in the movie.
Stauffenberg's son Berthold has already objected to Cruise playing the role of his late-father, because of his connection with the scientology cult, saying 'He should keep his hands off my father'. So now it is just left up to German Government to decide whether to let filming commence.
After his cringworthy performance on the Oparah Winfrey show last year, maybe its time for Cruise to be banned from our screens as well as Germany?!
