Travolta: Di-dance saved me
Jun21200712:20 p.m.
On the mark of Princess Diana's death, John Travolta has revealed for the first time how his infamous dance with Diana in 1985, saved his career after a drought of work following the huge success of Grease and Saturday Night Fever.
He recalls the moment when then-First Lady Nancy Reagan took him aside and told him that Diana had requested a dance with him. Let's face it, after seeing him in Saturday Night Fever, who the hell wouldn't?
Travolta apparently approched her at the stroke of midnight and used the line 'Excuse me Princess, would you care to dance?', the rest is history. The following day, they were on the cover of every newspaper worldwide and Travolta had offers coming in left-right and centre.
Just makes you wonder, if he hadn't have gone to that glittering gala dinner on Novemeber 9th 1985, would he be the huge successful star that he is today? Or would he have just been another one-hit (well, maybe two; Grease and Saturday Night Fever) wonder? Hmmmm......
