Half a stone down.... 2 full ones to go!

Morning bloggers! Been a bit lazy in keeping up my blog this week so I've chastised myself accordingly!
I've been sensible eating for the last two weeks and am pleased to report a 7lbs weight loss! Yippee! Only 28lbs to go.......
! Already I feel better and wish I had done it sooner so that I hadn't had to haul soo much weight around London in April! Still, I'm doing it now and hopefully if I am successful in the ballot I will be a little more svelt than I am now!
I've really missed my running as strange as it may seem! So on wednesday I decided to really put the orthotics to the test and my stamina (!!) and went for a 7 mile run. I have to say that the orthotics seem to be working, although I did start to get a niggling rubbing feeling on the dreaded little toe at about 5 miles. I think next time I'll strap it up as well! The route I took was pretty hilly too, I guess in preparation for that hilly Gt North Run in September. I managed to do it in 1hr13mins which I was really pleased with as its the first reasonable distance since London and being injury free!
Have gone back to the gym too and going to try for a couple of visits a week, job and family permitting of course!
On the job front, not a great deal to report, am pleased to say that the motorists of Norfolk seem to be behaving them selves rather well at the moment.... well that is apart from the 6 people who had the pleasure of my company yesterday for chatting on their phones whilst driving!! Only downside for me at work is that since the big re-shuffle in April I now have a 50 mile round trip to get to work and then I cover huge distances when I'm there! Oh well...... only two more 10 hour shifts to go this week, tonight and tomorrow night then a few days off!!
Oh, and a bit of advice - was thinking of joining a local running club to improve my pace for the GNR - any thoughts??
Have good weeks one and all xx

garyb 'Well done on the weight loss Charlie! Terrific stuff. regarding your orthotics, like any change it will take several runs for you legs/feet to adapt to them but they will be fine soon. in terms of running club, go for it, they normally are excellent for motivation and like minded people! I would say definitely a yes, if I ran regularly I would like I had before.' added 15th May 2009

kraftykat 'Great post Charlie and a massive well done on the weight loss - you're doing great and really putting me to shame on all fronts! I'm sure a running club will improve your running on all levels. I'm in the same boat but haven't been brave enough to give it a whirl yet! Enjoy your next few days off. ' added 15th May 2009

Johnf 'I misread ballot for ballet, for a second there wondered what you'd applied for! Good work on the weight, will make quite a difference to your pace as well. I don't run with a Club but I think for most people it would be a benefit for the advice and running with similar/quicker paced runers.' added 15th May 2009

Nick 'Definitely worth joining a running club. I'm sure there must be some good ones in your area. P.S. Try and be nice to us motorists. It's a hard life out on Britain's roads!' added 15th May 2009
