Well guys this is it - our last training blog for 2009 at least.  We've been with you for months harping on about stretching (a soap box subject of mine), training, diet and hydration.  I'm writing this with mixed emotions.  I think you've all done amazingly well - we've had a few injuries along the way unfortunately but we are hopeful you'll be with us next year to get that well deserved medal!  I dont want it to end but end it must and with a great event.  I'm heading up to Scotland to cheer you all on.

This time it's our Edinburgh runners who are in the limelight - the miles are in the bank and the event is in sight.  As ever last minute tips are still relevant and may well remind you about one or two things so here is a quick fire summary of things to do before Sunday

Get lots of rest (I didnt' run at all 5 days before race day - it may be a good thing to give your body time to rest before the raee)

Get lots of fluid inside you (water preferably) - if you havent already cut back on the booze now is a good time to do so!  My advice?  No alcohol untill after the race.

Get your supporters kitted out (Yes  I know your kit is important too but it will really help you if you can spot your supporters on the day - these events get busier and busier as years go by - they could carry balloons/wear wigs/bright colours whatever may stand it - believe me you wont regret it)

Carbo load - great excuse to fuel your body - the day before is usually sufficient.  It could give you that extra spurt to cross the finish line

Be a good boy scout/girl guide (always be prepared - be it kit, travel arrangements or food consumption.  Plan ahead in your head and you will find it a lot easier when the day comes)

Remember to smile, those cameras get everywhere and dont forget to stop and enjoy it!
