Graffiti, Haggis & Running

Feb0220108 a.m.

Last week I decided to take a detour while out for my early morning run.  I went over the footbridge that goes over the railway line for a change.  It's a very grey and very boring footbridge which leads to a very grey and boring road that goes to either the ferry or the docks so as you can see I don't use this bridge very often, infact I don't think I've been over it since the summer.  Imagine my surprise at 6:50am on a dark cold morning to see this

I've no idea when this was done, there was nothing in the local paper about it, maybe it's simply graffiti...if it is it's pretty impressive graffiti.  I thought this one was particularly appropiate at the end of a cold run.

Certainly makes a change from the usually graffiti words you see around here.

Training is still going well, but as always the weather affects it because try as I might I can't bring myself to get out and go for a run in the rain, so sometimes there is a few too many rest days between.

Last week I had my first taste of haggis at the local Rotary Club lunch.  To cut a long story short, the Rotary Club go out collecting money before Christmas on the street for childrens charities  Because my boss who died of cancer used to be a member his wife offers our services to count all that change for them.  We counted nearly £8,000 worth of change over a ten day period and as a thank you they invite us to their lunch, which this year was haggis.  It was ok but now I know what it's like I don't think I'd chose it again.

  • emmteeyess 'Haggis AND black pudding? YES PLEASE!! (although these are both the type of food where good local made butcher types are so much better than mass made supermarket types - perhaps you just need to try good ones. A bit like comparing wholemeal/granary bread to skanky white) Anyway, like the graffiti too, and well done for getting out. In the rain next time??? Cheers, MTS ' added 4th Feb 2010
