Watching brief....
How do all! Well, what can I say? I often hear that football is a cruel, cruel game, and that has never been truer than this weekend's result. The boys played their proverbial socks off and were kicked in the gizzard in the 93rd minute by Hugo Rodellaga's goal. What a performance, it fully merited three points, one at the absolute minimum, so to leave with none is a mighty blow. It leaves seven games to achieve 4 wins, probably. As long as we are in the fight, we will continue to battle with every ounce of energy we have.

Now, if I've ever struggled for something to write about, this week is not it! It only transpires that, after 4 weeks, 4 matches, two x-rays, a second opinion and countless injections, the Toe of Destiny IS broken!!!!! I find it astounding that we have to consult a fracture specialist, who took all of 3 seconds to confirm that there was a break in this Cumberland sausage of mine. The news filled me with a mixture of relief and fear. I'm relieved to know that I wasn't just being a big girl's blouse and the pain I was experiencing was fully merited.
The fear lay in the fact that I may have had to put a cast on my foot, thus rendering my season over. The good news is that the toe is showing signs of healing, even though I'd ploughed on through the previous four fixtures with pain-killing injections. And happily it doesn't need any kind of cast or air boot. The bad news is that it is broken and will need minimal stress/pressure and time to heal. This injury now confines me to the treatment room for the foreseeable future. 8 o'clock starts and 3-4 o'clock finishes with no days off! Horrible! My schedule will now take me away from the rough and tumble of regular training and into the gym with our physio team.

I couldn't be in more capable hands than those of Mitch and Luke, who'll be putting me through my paces on the bike, in the pool and any other non-impact sessions they can imagine! Oh, and then there's the weights, but I've bitched about them before, so I suppose I'll just have to get on with it! This meant that I was relegated to a mere observer of the game at the weekend and, let me tell you, it is sooooo nerve wrecking! You head and kick every ball with your team-mates out there, but feel so helpless! I am almost certain that, had I not played the game for a living, I wouldn't be able to stand supporting a team from the stands.
You want them to win so badly, you know that they can do it when they're on form, but there's nothing you can do but shout, pray and ultimately cry at whatever unfolds before you! It is for this reason that I salute all supporters everywhere! To put yourself through that strain every week is a form of self torture, but I know that we wouldn't be able to succeed without you! You keep soldiering on through that weekly emotional pain, we'll keep ploughing through this physical pain, and together we'll march on to success! Have a great week and many blessings.

Oghanisironingboard 'Hi Clarke hope the toe mends quickly for you as we are getting low on centre backs at the minute with Edgar off to Swansea for some strange reason beyond my logic. I couldnt believe it on Saturday at Wigan 93rd minute. What do we have to do to get points away from home.We need a big effort on Sunday against BAS**RDS as defeat is not an option for us fans as i think that would seal our fate this season. So come on Clarke get the boys wound up and lets put on a performance that we know you all have inside you, most fans could stomach going down as long as we turn them over.Good luck big fella.UTC' added 26th Mar 2010
