Running and Rocking

Okay I admit I was wrong not to keep you up to date on my running on my last post so I'll attempt to make up with it now.
My run at Bourton on the Water was 5.4 miles at a fairly casual 8:25 pace though I do have an excuse as the first half of the run was along footpaths and through fields and there were loads of gates to negotiate along the way. Okay that's not a great excuse as there's no reason not to make up for it between the gates.
My next run was 5 miles at a more realistic 7:39 pace before an 8 miler at 11:02 pace but yes you've guessed it, I have an excuse for that one too. I took Melanie on a hill run and when I say hill run we are really talking hills as the following chart shows.

The run was actually only 4 miles long but as I'd put Melanie through some pretty hard work I thought I should go out and do it all over again once I dropped her off back home.
Three runs this week have been squeezed into my schedule (9 miles, 3.2 miles and 4.1 miles) so nothing really outstanding there.
Okay that's the running out of the way, so what else? Well on Friday last week Melanie and I went to watch Ben in his first gig at a pub in Chirk just outside of Wrexham. He plays the drums and has recently set up a band. As luck would have it the bass player of his band comes from a musical family and her mother and father are members of a local rock band called Blind Justice. The gig was actually theirs but Ben and his band "Band of Three" had the chance to play a couple of numbers. Even with only 5 practices together as a band they did far better than I'd anticipated (Oh yes - Dad of little faith) and the pub offered them a gig of their own. Hmmm I think they might need to expand their repertoire a little though as I'm not sure just repeating Anarchy in the UK and I Love Rock and Roll each 5 times in an evening will quite cut it!
