Lungs of a 25 year old......

Did visit the physio last Tuesday, he had a late cancellation. He did a real blitz on the leg and gave me a few options. First, get another opinion and see on of his colleagues, be referred to a specialist or stop running. Hmm, last one isnt an option.
Went up to Edinburgh for a couple of days then did a gym session on Friday morning. The draw of the treadmill was too much and I bounced out a slow 3.2 miles. Boy did it feel good. Did ice 3 times after that, leg felt ok. Perhaps the last blitzing did some good. Downside last week was not getting in the VLM again. One of those strang things, you really want to be part of it but there is also that relief side of things that you dont have all that training over the winter. Am jealous though, keep looking at alternatives but have to focus on getting leg better first.
Saturday, out and about on the bike. Bought a new garmin and really wanted to give it a try. Sunday, I even managed a 5 miler on the treadmill. Felt ok after as well. Starting feeling the leg though after kicking a ball around the park in this glorious weather and also a spot of badminton with the kids.
Overall am pleased with progress, still not right but its feeling better. Just need to take things slowly and not go too mad too soon. Back to my title, my company pays for a BUPA assessment every year - first time I have been. 2 hrs of tests and with a doc. Doc called in sick, so just the tests, back on Thurs for the results.
Apparently my Heart Rate on the ECG was 43! Never known it that low. And on the breath test thingy I have the lungs of a 25 year old. Weird really as most 25 year olds that I know smoke and drink to excess.
Happy Running

simonedumergue 'haha - bet you wish the rest of your body was like a 25 year old! Nice work on the resting HR though. Can't get mine below 50, so 43 is damn impressive! Hope that leg comes right - giving up running is not an option. I know what you mean about mixed emotions for VLM - I felt that relief when I also missed out last year but this time around I have my Plan B of Brighton all lined up. As I struggled out the door in the dark this morning, at least it was mild - don't want to remember how hard that will be in the middle of winter :-( Happy running!' added 3rd Oct 2011

Johnf 'Yes not a typical modern 25 year old but perhaps holding on to what you could do at 25 yourself. Simone can be so cruel!! Good luck with getting that leg back to normal. I can imagine just about all the bloggers on here when told one option is not to run would know what you felt like at that moment.' added 3rd Oct 2011
