First ever Blog

Well this is the first time I've made a blog. on this page I'll go on about my training... and various other useless bits of info on living in sunny SA. Saturday I ran a 21km road race in a black township called Atteridgeville. my running buddy Belinda and I travelled together. It was very hot starting off at around 28 degress at 6:30am. Race went well lots of supporters on the road little black kiddies wanting you to clap their hands as you passed. They didn't have water sachets which is the norm for races out here, but the locals helped out with their hose pipes and there was coke at the refreshment stations some had cups of water as well.
Belinda and I rounded off the run with a margarita ! She had pre mixed and froze it... must say went down very well as at the finish it was around 34 degrees.
We are in the midst of a heat wave, weather has been in the mid to high 30's for two weeks now, no rain no wind nothing....
Didn't run Sunday as we went to the 20/20 local cricket game, inter provincial teams, our team the Titans playing the Eagles. we won on the last ball of the last over needed 1 to win and it was a wide... so we got the run and won !! very exciting love the 20/20 games.
Monday is my rest day... running club run tomorrow will fill you on my awsome club Irene Road running club.

Elainec 'Funny... even for all the years I've been running I still think of myself as a novice ! I think it's because I see the same runners at the races I do who have been running alot longer than me.' added 27th Feb 2007
