About

Right, where to start?  I started running (actually, best not exagerate - it was more a jog come stumble at the time) as a way of keeping fit now...

Me landing to the outside of my foot,

Jul2020107:38 p.m.

I can actually feel now how much I do this, but as I said before can't seem to stop it.  Next pair of shoes aren't due really til the end of year due to financial constraints.....

Off to look up the 10k that superrunningmummy suggested now :)

  • Muffs 'I do exactly the same. I stick to neutral shoes. Not sure if it's right but I don't get any problems. Structured shoes just wear down to quickly.' added 21st Jul 2010

  • Alaistair 'For what its worth...many neutral runners have a foot fall similar to what you describe...certainly would not try to force a change? In the above picture your running style and foot fall do look very normal...if it was me I would be more concerned if the foot fall was inwards suggesting pronation, that certainly would require a more supportive solution? Good Gait Analysis should answer all these points and would not wait very long - you could always have the analysis done (at no cost) but still wait until you could afford to replace your shoes later in the year...would give you peace of mind?' added 21st Jul 2010

  • Way_Too_Slow 'As Alaistair mentions, your foot should roll inwards as your foot strikes the ground and rolls through (Pronation). You just have to make sure you aren't over-pronating and rolling too much. Gait analysis at a proper running shop is well worth it. They would be able to give you advice on shoe types as well' added 21st Jul 2010

  • Skye_Trekker 'I'd go for the gait analysis too, and even go as far as getting shoes fitted. You can always check out Internet deals to see if you can get them cheaper on line. I'm lucky to get 500 miles out a pair of trainers and now I just get my trainers whenever there is a sale on and tend to go for the older models of the shoes, not the latest.' added 2nd Aug 2010
