Free Sport-specific Yoga in the Park - will they come?

May08201211:21 a.m.

The slowing down of life (as mentioned in my first blog) did not seem to last very long, as it has been 5 months. Fantastic. You can always rely on time flying past like there's no tomorrow (paradox play on words, but hey).

I started running again, am loving it, up to 12km, planning 15km at the weekend, slowly climbing up. I am integrating what I'm learning as a Yoga Sports Coach (in training) into my practice (both running and the yoga), however I'm still trying to find a balance with the amount of yoga I do.

It's very interesting I find when it comes to athletes doing yoga. So as athletes doing yoga, we do NOT aim to become more & more flexible. Yep, that’s right - touching our toes is not the point!
Instead we want to create the ability to let go of the tendency to resist & fight ourselves, right?
But what exactly does that mean?
It means that by "simply" relaxing and telling our muscles and tissues to let go (even more so if they talk back at ya!), we will be able to find more "space", easing them back to their optimal length so they can fire again completely, increasing the potential to become stronger & more powerful!

So as a trial, I am currently offering free 30mins sessions in London's parks to bring some of the benefits across to sporty peeps that are still haunted by preconceptions about yoga. They are slowly dissolving with elite athletes discovering the benefits of complementing their training with the help of yoga, Ryan Giggs being one of the most visible ones.

Do you think my park sessions will work? I hope so. It's definitely worth it in my eyes. In fact I'm super enthusiastic about it, and hope to bring this across, so my students will be able to take something out of it.

The weather I'm sure is going to be as beautiful and supportive as it can be here in the "moderate" climates of England, lol, please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Have a lovely day everyone! Happy running and yogi'ing!
