No updates lately but still running

For those who read my blog regularly (think just my Mum and Sian) sorry I haven't updated lately I keep meaning to but struggle to find the time.
It has been a couple of weeks but I have still been running, a 12 miler last week which went better than the week before but yet again I was done in by the end and would have really stuggled to go any further. I was pleased that the recovery time was a lot lot better though.
The snow and ice has put pay to a lot of my plans for road running so I have been on the treadmill at the gym most days but it just isn't the same and I tend to only run 3 or 4 miles at a time, mainly due to the heat. I also had a good go on the cross trainer which after a bit of getting used to I enjoyed and found useful so I will persevere with it.
Last week, much to most friends amusement, I also had a go at a bodycombat class which was quite possibly the campest thing I have ever done. It basically involved air punching and kicking while dancing to music and those of you that have seen me dance will know it isn't a pretty sight (except after 10 pints when I become John Travolta)
This weekend we were away at my in laws so I went for a run around Coventry which brought several new challenges to me, a) I generally had no idea where I was running and was very close to getting lost on a couple of occasions b) It is not like East anglia they have hills, ok they are still no big ones but they were a definite culture shock.
Unfortunately my Nike + receiver decided to stop working after 5 miles so I have no idea how far I went but it was a minimum of 10 miles at a quicker pace than normal (despite the hills) so I was very pleased especially as I still felt pretty good at the end. This earned me a curry in the city centre with Claire in the evening.
This weekend I really need to increase my distance and, despite the fact my legs go at 12 miles, I feel much better about doing this now as my recovery time is much better and I know that running a new route makes things a lot easier. I am now going to look for a new safe route in my area, unfortunately due to the rural nature it is not easy to find safe roads.

Clouseau 'Good to know that all's going well and you're keeping up with the running. Had to laugh when you mentioned the Bodycombat class. I often watch our lot at the local Fitness First when I'm on the Dreadmill. Everyone's a Van Damme or a Chuck Norris while mincing along to S Club!!!!' added 15th Feb 2009
