West End girl!

Hello and a belated Happy New Year. It’s been a while since I last blogged and so much has happened in such a short space of time. Straight after Strictly finished (big congrats to Harry and Aliona, much deserved) I went straight into rehearsals for Midnight Tango, which was a bit of a whirlwind. I managed to have some time off to enjoy Christmas, which was very chilled and saw the New Year in by watching the fireworks over London, which were amazing!! Russell and I were lucky enough to be asked to take part in the New Years Day’s parade through London. Although the weather wasn’t the best, we had a really good time and it didn’t seem to put off the thousands of people who turned up to celebrate the start of 2012.

Talking of which I honestly can’t believe 2011 is over. What with our tour and Strictly, it seemed to fly by and I’m really excited about the upcoming year. Of course everything is about Midnight Tango for me at the moment; we have all been working extra hard over the past few weeks as our first preview at the Aldwych theatre!!! Ahhhh!! What excites me so much about the show this year, is that we have all put in so much effort to make it the best possible show it can be. For those of you who managed to see it last year I think this year’s show will be even better. We also have some new faces in the cast and I don’t think you will be disappointed as they are all fabulous dancers.

I can’t quite believe Vincent and I are about to open in the West End with our own show, it’s a bit like a dream really. People always say that “you never know one day we may see your name up in lights” and now it is! I feel very proud of all the hard work that has gone into to making this dream possible. Hard work it certainly is and all of the cast are feeling it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as exhausted as I do at the moment. The week before opening a show is full of long days, tech runs, dress runs, rehearsals and aching limbs. It’s a real workout on the body and mind and I have to be very careful about what I eat and how I conserve energy. I eat lots of fruit like bananas, apples and oranges, which are loaded with Vitamin C, as well as good carbs that give me quick energy.

In the morning I’ve found porridge or yoghurt is a must, as they are both full of minerals and have a high protein count that keeps me going for longer. Last but certainly not least, there’s my favourite, Endamane beans. They are a fantastic pick me up and are full of nutrients that not only give you a boost in energy, but help keep the spirits high. Also drinking plenty of water helps. I have managed to fit in the odd flapjack too however, which are good for sugar levels!! And another thing that I also use to supplement my diet is Maximuscle Viper/recovery energy drink and my Maxitone definity bars to snack on. Well it’s back to work for me now. If you want to check dates and performance times of the show and tour, check the website. Wishing you all a great week ahead. F x
