I like running :-) by Flumptious

About

Just updating this (and changing the title). I have been running (slowly!) since the mid-nineties. Then, in 2005, I fell off my bicycle (*with* a helm...

I did a junior Parkrun this morning!

Jan0120122:53 p.m.

Happy New Year!

This morning, Rob went out early for a 30k-er. I was under instructions to get the girls into their track-suits. When he came home, we all got into the car and went over to Bushy Park for 11, for their 'junior parkrun'. This was just 2k, down a straight path for a km, then turning round, and coming back the other way. Rob ran with QTKT, while I ran with Lizzie-wiz. As a surprise, we met Tamsin, who used to work with Rob. We often see them, for family swimming, or we leave the blokes and the kids at their house, while me and Tamsin walk to the start of the the Cabbage Patch 10-miler, in Twickenham. Tamsin and Andy's son, James, is 7, and they were there for him to race too. It was just a very simple route, straight out and back. Unfortunately, Lizzie was not comfortable, lots of bits hurting, so she couldn't run a lot of the time, and so we were almost last. But she says she does want to do it again, and QTKT definitely wants to. The junior parkrun is on the first Sunday of each month. I wonder if they will want to do it next month? We'll see. At the moment, Catherine is really keen to do it again.

We went to the cafe with our friends, and had a cup of tea (but no cake! One of my New Year's Resolutions is to lose weight). Then we came home. And I went out for a bit more running. I did 2k in the park, and I did 3k at home. I decided to run until I hit 1.5k, then turned round, just so I would have done 5k in total. That was a bit silly, really, wasn't it? But it's my longest post-injury run, even if it was in two chunks. I think it still counts. So, 5k. The first 2 were slower than normal, because of the kiddies. The last 3 were at 11.1 minutes a mile - not fast, but not horrifically slow for me at the moment, either. And, more importantly, I enjoyed both chunks. Smile
