Woke up, fell out of bed....

Oct13201111:05 a.m.

... dragged a comb across my head.

Now, well, actually I didn't, as per usual I allow my crazy receding mop of something resembling hair to go free before I run. But I did roll over, try to consume a cereal bar and a glass of water and then, blearly-eyed, put my runnning stuff on and headed for the door. I've got to the stage now where I put my clothes, running watch, coat, shoes and ipod in a path between my bed and the front door, allowing me to play a half asleep slow-motion version of the dressing up game (the nostalgia from sports day somehow escaped me at 6.15 this morning.

Woke up, fell out of bed....

A sparkly top hat should really become part of my running gear

Last night I visited my friend the sports masseur/back specialist/muscle repairman/energy and relaxation guy (the same bloke) it was so nice to get some relief from the leg and back lethargy. I always feel energised when I leave, stinking my car out with the heady aroma of tiger balm and feeling like nothing can stop me.

The run itself was a little bit sloggy again, I've noticed that I seem incapable of stopping myself trying to run close to personal bests on every run. Still I'm happy with 4 miles in 33.32 - If I consider that I was doing similar times only a month before my marathon ruin in 2008 (after 3 months of training) I can be very proud of myself.

I shall leave you with this thought: If you went to a party and your son sat in the corner of the room throughout before seizing the plum-based dessert and shoving his thumb in to spear fruit, would "what a good boy" be the reaction he got? Not sure Nursery Rhymes really teach children the right messages...
