David Walliams and Wimbledon.....

Jul0320119:33 p.m.

Do excuse me for not being in touch for a while, but life has gone a bit bonkers. This week I have worked on 8 TV shows and a radio show from Wimbledon yesterday. I started a new show on Channel 5 last Monday, which is called The Wright Stuff Extra with Gabby Logan, but that doesn't really tell you a lot about the content. In the first week I have interviewed an amazing woman who re-mortgaged her house to buy breakfast for poor children in Hackney and now provides the first meal of the day for 210 schools in poor areas; a man who walked the length of the Amazon - it took him 2 and a half years; a woman whose baby was given hypothermia to prevent brain damage and we had a film about a swingers' club.

It really is a veritable feast of variety and I am loving it. The production team are great and the studio is in Notting Hill which is a lovely place to work. The other 3 shows were David Walliams Wall of Fame and two England football matches from the Women's World Cup. So never a dull moment! By the way David Walliams is a great host, he is also exactly the same on TV as he is when the cameras stop rolling. He is also physically very imposing, a big strong man which obviously lends itself to his swimming great distances!

So many people in this business are so small that it needs pointing out when one meets a big man! The only downside has been spending so much time in studios when we've had such lovely weather. Setting off to work early in the morning in sunshine does lift the spirits however. People seem to walk with more of a bounce. I just hope I have a bit of bounce left in me when my next day off comes.

  • Jenny1961 'I was just wondering why Women's Football doesn't generate the same interest over here in England than it does in Germany for instance. A comment on a fellow-blogger's post prompted me to mention this to my daughter's boyfriend who is German. He says that Women's Football is currently BIG news over there with it being shown in the pubs and everyone watching avidly!' added 4th Jul 2011
