Update: (16/05/2009)

Having made a lifestyle choice, at almost 18 stone and being unable to run to the loo(!!), I applied for the FLM 2009. I got in and ran for SPARKS having lost over 4 and a half stone! Was a fantastic day, but my right calf went after 16 miles and I limped and hobbled the last 10 and over the finish line.

So I must carry on running to keep the weight off and better my PB's. Ballot entered for 2010, so fingers crossed. - got place with Children with Leukaemia!!

Still not built for speed, but am improving and keeping going. Many thanks for the support of my wonderful wife Debs, and my two little angels, Derry and Ellie.

Another PB

Re-scheduled day off today, so went for haircut and dropped girls with mum whilst I did a few errands and of course go for a run.

Was mindful on how much time I had, so went off at a slightly quicker pace............first mile done in 7:40!! At this stage I thought hang on Gazz slow down, no need for it. But as I carried on, i just wondered how much I could do, and anyway a bit of speed work never hurts does it.

So then 4.5 MILES DONE IN 39:35!!!!!! That for me was unbelievable. Yes I was blowing a bit at the end, but not horrendously. Feeling superb now and thinking about what pace I should try and achieve on 26th!

Will go out one more this week for a shorter run, followed by an 8 on Sunday, and another short one next Wednesday.

Great time Gazz but its time to ease off now make sure you save your best effort for 26th! I'm going to be trying for a sub 4.5 myself but at the end of the day I be happy just to finish in one piece!

Great run! As for pace on the 26th, we can discuss!! :-) My own thought is to stick to plan A and should there be plenty of fuel left in the legs post Canary Wharf then think about cranking the handle!
Remember the saying ... "When running a marathon, if you think you've gone off too slow, you've still gone off too fast!"

Blimey - what is going on?
Amazing effort.
Keep some fuel in the tank for the big day though won't you and don't be tempted to go out too fast on the 26th or you'll use your glycogen stores up too quickly (says me - marathon novice!)

A great 4.5 there Gazz, looking good for the 26th, play it safe with the pace, you could up at the 2/3 stage, sooo easy to get carried away & race off at the start chucking that planned marathon pace out of the window & paying for it later.

Well done on another pb-you star! Keep in going til next week now pma (positive mental attitude!!) :-)

Crikey, that's impressive. You'll have a fab time on the 26th. Take care though not to push it too much - don't want an injury now!

Good running Gazz but stick to your plan on time, its too late to make major shanges in taper. You will be incredibly fit at the moment hence the pace, but you should be maintaining effort, while reducing volume during taper, not increasing effort. But a good run.
