Update: (16/05/2009)

Having made a lifestyle choice, at almost 18 stone and being unable to run to the loo(!!), I applied for the FLM 2009. I got in and ran for SPARKS having lost over 4 and a half stone! Was a fantastic day, but my right calf went after 16 miles and I limped and hobbled the last 10 and over the finish line.

So I must carry on running to keep the weight off and better my PB's. Ballot entered for 2010, so fingers crossed. - got place with Children with Leukaemia!!

Still not built for speed, but am improving and keeping going. Many thanks for the support of my wonderful wife Debs, and my two little angels, Derry and Ellie.

PB's

Half Marathon - Bath March 2009 - 2:17:30

Marathon - London April 2009 - 5:33:15

Drowned Rat.......

.....is the only way I can describe myself today! Missed Friday's run as extremely tired and slept through the alarm, so was determind to make up for it today.

Up at 6 and out at 6.30, with my running buddy Annie (isn't it easier running with someone), in what can only be described as monsoon conditions!! A fairly hilly route as I knew I wouldn't stop when running with Annie, so I was determind to make it fairly tough......8 miles done in 1:25, so I am well chuffed.

I have set up my fundraising page once more, so if any generous ballot runners would like to donate please go to www.bmycharity.com/garysmithcwl That's the last time I will ask on the blog, as that's not whats it's there for. If anyone has any fundraising ideas though, or if I can hijack any events then please let me know.

Planning going out Tues, Weds and Friday this week, so fingers crossed the rain might stop!!

Cheers. Gazz.

PS. This is me at the end of Birmingham, bloodied but somehow smiling!!

I know how you feel. I got soaked today too. It's character building. Apparently.

omg that photo made me choke on my cup of tea :-) Ouch!!
Good on you for getting out there in the rain. It was pissing down at 7am this morning and blowing a gale, so I went this afternoon, when it was just blowing a gale. All relative I guess.
Nice work on the hilly route. Keep it up!
