Fleet 1/2 and other runs

I know it's been quite a while since I last put anything on here so I thought I'd better update things.
My registration details and final instructions magazine arrived on Thursday and it makes it all the more real. Even though I've done it a couple of times before I'm starting to get very nervous about it all. I don't want to let anyone down and am desperate to go sub 4 hours.
I took part in the Fleet 1/2 marathon last weekend and am very pleased to report a personnel best time of 1 hour 34 minutes and 50 seconds (2 minutes and 2 seconds quicker than previous best). The run felt really good, my legs felt strong and I wasn't too tired afterwards. I'm not sure though that I could go much quicker.
The weekend before Fleet I managed to get out and do an 18 miler. I achieved this in 2 hours 21 minutes, which averages 07:50 per mile. I must admit I started to feel pretty tired by the end of it and really have to concentrate on drinking and refueling as I go. It did my confidence good to do that distance but have slight concerns over struggling on the last mile. I just need to keep that pace going for another 8 miles! Easier said than done.
I am worried now that any niggle or ache turns into a proper injury but think it's very much all in the head. I could happily do the race this weekend and get it out of the way!!!
My lunch time run went well today - 5 miles in under 38 minutes - even with a slight upset stomache. I'll probably do an 8 miler over the weekend and then the last long run the following weekend (20+ miles). Ill definately be taking gels with me on that and see how I get on with them.
I hope everyone else's training is coming along nicely and that you're all in good shape for the 25th.
All the best
Lee
