About

In 2002 I took part in my first London marathon. The reasoning behind this was that 'if I don't do it now then I never will'. I managed to run/jog/fas...

What a good week

Mar0120101:26 p.m.

What a great weeks training it's been!!

Last week (21st - 27th Mar) I managed to do 4 runs totalling 35 miles plus I also managed 8 cycle rides to/from work for a total of 73 miles.

This week has started off well also with a Sunday morning longer run. I'd been out on Saturday and had quite a bit to eat and a few glasses of wine so when I headed out of the door on Sunday morning I had no idea how far or how long I was going to run for. I ended up doing 2 hours and 2 minutes in the wind and rain and felt like i could've easily done a bit further. After checking my route I found out that I'd done 15.4 miles so was even happier. That works out at just under 8 min miles and if I can keep that going for another 11 miles I'll be well on course for a sub 4 hour marathon in April.

This week I'm going to do slightly less during the week but aim to do at least 18 miles at the weekend.

I've been in this position before though and wont be getting too excited just yet. I have done more training this year though compared to any other marathon year and think that the cycling really helps with the core fitness levels. I've also learnt my lesson about fuel and make sure that I'm topped up with drink/energy as I'm going.

I have managed to find some photos from the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon from last weekend, they can be seen at http://www.sportcam.net/CompetitorImage.aspx?ID=6525&General=No if you're interested.

I hope everyone else's training is going well.

All the best

Lee
