Happy days are here again...

Another blog so soon? Well, yes. I am on a roll. The story so far...
Having iced, rested, elevated, compressed, shouted at and cajoled my dodgy knee in an attempt to get it to function as it should but without success, I decided to change tac. So I heated it, lowered it, massaged it, ate chocolate and biscuits (well-known cure all for knee problems), threatened it with a hammer and tested it out every five minutes or so to see if there was any improvement....As if there would be after five minutes - addiction to running does this to you.
After 5 whole psychotic days of inactivity (apart from training clients which doesn’t count) the knee was beginning to show signs of...something....Uncomfortable one minute but not the next and particularly bad first thing in the morning after a long rest and aggravated by coming downstairs. That made no sense to me at all. But then not a lot does.
Monday morning I instinctively felt that the knee needed a run. Hah! Okay, so that’s not true. I instinctively knew if I didn’t run I might not make it through the rest of the day/week/year....So decided to run on the treadie, very tentatively at first and then after about a mile, went hell for leather as I realised the discomfort was diminishing as I ran. Whaaat??
And afterwards, expecting to feel pain, the knee felt fine. Curiouser and curiouser.
So me and the kneecap went to visit the Osteopath. After a lot of chat and manipulation from her, the tentative diagnosis was patella maltracking (which sounds like a village in Dorset to me), and I can run, but not down hill just yet because that aggravates it.....Ooooh I don’t care...I love my Osteopath and my kneecap. Won’t bore you with why this has happened but it all makes sense now and I think I am going to have to fork out even more dosh and visit the Pod (affectionately known as ‘Simon the Foot’ amongst those in the know) to give my orthotics a seeing to.
So all’s well that ends well and the good fairy said I can go on my running jollys with my new best friends after all. The End.
This morning was the usual run with the ‘galloping gals’ (well one, the infamous Mrs D)for an 8 mile gallop followed by some torturous TRX. Beautiful scenic route along the Thames and all is still well with the world. Knee a bit sore. Shush.
Hey, I know I keep going on about this visit to the French Alps with the Yellings....But do you think Martin Yelling will be recording Marathon Talk whilst in the Alps? D’ya think he’d like to interview me? I think he should don’t you? Not quite up to this week’s interviewees standards though - Mo Farah! Actually, I think he should have a rest from the recording and let me do the episode....What’ya think? Giggle.

Jenny1961 'I'm chuckling at Suzie's comment re getting stuck on top of an Alp!. But we'll come and rescue you don't worry. After all we need you for the London meet-up in July! Really really delighted to hear that you can actually run! The osteo said that my shoulder was mal tracking. Still is! But as I don't run on my shoulder I'm not TOO bothered any more!' added 14th Jun 2011

I listened to marathon talk on my run tonight... haven't listened to it in ages, in fact probably since April last year. Marty mentioned the Alps and I immediately thought about you appearing on the show.... you have to! Scared a woman walking her dog on the other side of the road when I guffawed out loud at Tony's trials! Bet I could get away with guffawing in Patella Maltracking!' added 14th Jun 2011
