Monday mumbles...

Jan18201012:13 p.m.

Week 4 of Hal's programme saw me complete 32 miles of running last week. Ending with a 13 miler yesterday which I was 'supposed' to run on Saturday but being as it was raining elephants and the nice weather man said Sunday would actually be warm and sunny, I swapped days. But that kind of mucks up week 5 cos today started with a 3 miler instead of a rest and due to work commitments I have to run as per my agreed (with myself) programme. But boy was I stiff this morning! And actually the 3 miler worked well as a recovery run. Tomorrow it's 7! Cripes! The mileage is creeping up.

Yesterday's run was glorious. I have decided to run most of my training sessions off-road and along the tow path by the river, mainly because I love the scenery, the wildlife, the lack of people/cars etc and when I'm not listening to 'running' music on my iPod (which is quite a new experience for me), the silence, but it was a tad squelchy yesterday and today, in places, there is flooding, so my scenic plan just might be scuppered. Hey ho.

  • Johnf 'I almost always run the day after a long run, slow to steady 5 miles normally and find it does ease the legs off. Even with a few puddles and extra squelch, the run sounds much better than town streets' added 18th Jan 2010
