  • A non-running weekend!

Well hopefully by re starting my blog i will kick start my old habits of wanting to go for a run rather than pushing myself out the door...although I think in reality is was usually more of the latter any how!

The plan this weekend was to really boost motivation by attending my local 'parkrun' in wimbledon common.  Even though it would have been a PW these free events are brilliant...i always get such a buzz from running with others and having that little element of competition.  When I take part I usually come home and start devising training plans, all full of good intentions.  Anyway.  I attended a 30th birthday on the friday night...it was one of those nights where I thought, let's just see what happens.  What happened was I rolled out of a taxi at 4am, I got woken up by the phone at 12pm, got up, had lunch and watched the apprentice on the iplayer, then went back to bed until about 3:30!  So no parkrun but a fun night, and an even nicer hangover!  Oh dear, this behaviour will change I promise!!

Last night I was baby sitting for my friend's absolutely gorgeous 11 month old archie.  Nothing quite wipes away a hangover than the genuine and innocent smile of a baby.  It was also just what i needed, a night in and x factor and a jolly good excuse!!

Today I did think I might go for a run this evening to make up for yesterday but I'll say now that I haven't.  Instead I left Hannah's around 11 and went to Bikram Yoga.  This is my latest beloved sport.  Anyone who does it will understand, anyone who hasn't tried it and isn't one of those people who feels hot all the time, you will love it.  Aside from the all over body conditioning, my heart gets a serious workout, I get to detox (its done in a room at 40 degrees) and my heart rate monitor tells me I have burned 750 calories during the 90 minute class.  I love it and intend to keep doing it once or twice a week during VLM training.

After Bikram I decided to head out into the gorgeous weather, with my booked (One Day) and went and had a coffee in the park cafe and read my book.  It didn't occur to me that everyone and anyone who owns an under 5 yr old would also have this idea, so it wasn't quite as peaceful as hoped, but it was a real treat to feel the sun on my face on the 10th October.

SO no running, but its gonna happen, and one project tonight is to at least devise a little 4 week plan to get things moving.
