Weeks Round up

May09200911:30 a.m.

Once the marathon is over I find the motivation to blog is all but gone but i'll try and keep it going...i am sure once i start running again I'll have more to report!

First things first - the shin is no better...i can hop about 3 times now...the left leg is raring to go but the right leg wants more rest.  No problem as I have absolutely no intention to even think about running until at least the 18th May...if there is a problem still then I'll see Jo my physio for advice.

So this week has been good, bad and ugly.  The ugly is - our MD at work is very bad at hiding his emotions and on Friday it became VERY obvious redundancies were iminent.  Tuesday was even worse...he was constantly in meetings with the CEO and HR Director...I think in a way he wanted to warn is in a candid way.  This all evoked quite a lot of nervous/light hearted banter between the group - we agreed this showed what a great and close team we are - but everyone was terrified.  Anyway - on Wednesday I had a lunch meeting with some clients and my boss and we got a call to hear 3 of our team had been kicked out.  Expected but shocking...that is 25% off our little company gone forever.  I kind of think its completely pointless.  I don't think our company would fold if we kept them...it just seems that everyone accepts it because of the climate so the company have used current times as an excuse.  I am currently thanking and counting my lucky stars I am still employed...for now.

Other than that I've managed to get in lots of non running exercise and I've been a very good eater.  I have managed to lose a pound - woo hoo - which is definitely NOT water weight.  Just really want to try and get rid of a couple more before wedding number one which is next saturday!

I have cycled to work every day so that is a total of 50 miles.  I've swum twice and I've done 1 x body pump and 2 x pilates based classes.  I am about to go to the gym now for a big swim session and will be joined by my friend Helen who I will probably end up nattering to for a good hour in the jacuzzi.

Later I am meeting my drinking turned pregnant buddy - so now my caffeine free coffee drinking mother to be - hannah!  I'll have an early night tonight as am up bright and early tomorrow for an all day rugby watching event.  I am expected at my friend Sarah's at half 9 for breakfast before we begin proceedings.  You can tell we're old as its been agreed we don't start drinking til lunch!! ha ha!!  Should be fun.

  • Johnf 'Glad you were retained. I think the doom that hangs over companies when redundancies are coming is almost worse than actually being made redundant.' added 11th May 2009

  • JSIMMONDS 'Sorry to hear about the job situation - happening to so many people at the moment. Your exercise routine sounds pretty rounded - I am trying to get mine more in balance now too - not so much of the pounding of the joints, and more swimming and cycling. Not the same though!' added 11th May 2009

  • daveredrock 'Annoying about your shin. Mine's in a similar state although I did run on it again yesterday for the first time. Non impact only is the only real way through so you're definitely doing the right thing. Hard to resist running though. Hope it clears up soon. ' added 11th May 2009
