And so the proper training begins...

Jan1020106 p.m.

Belated happy new year everyone!

Well, this week has officially been week 1 of marathon training... the serious stuff has started!!

I'm sticking to my plan of only running 3 times/ week.  This seems to have worked well for me so far and has been keeping me injury-free (fingers crossed).

This week I did a couple of short runs and then an 8 mile run yesterday (took me 92 mins so 11:30 mins/ mile which isn't bad going for me).  It was treadmill running again (damn snow!) but I set it to 1% incline that made it slightly harder but did mean I didn't get a sore shoulder (sometimes I get a twingey shoulder pain when I run on the treadmill) so that was good news.

... and over the Christmas holidays I managed to dig out an old MP3 player and put some decent music on it for running which was fantastic!!  It was so much more enjoyable listening to proper tunes rather than fuzzy radio stations!

Anyway, I hope everyone's first training sessions in 2010 have gone well Smile

  • squa25 'Great work on getting through the boring dreadmill running. Music helps but in my case not enough. I need to be in robotic mode. No brain function at all. You're doing well with your miles. Keep it up. ' added 10th Jan 2010
