Need reprogramming
Aug2620112:55 p.m.
Oh whoops again, how time flies. I am sure work is becoming even more relentless than it has ever been.
Blogging: So blogging has taken a back seat, though running continues at the same rate. Perhaps I need a blogging programme, is it only a programme that keeps me on track. Actually to call my running programme a “programme” is perhaps a slight misuse of the word, it consists of random running though the week which adds up to about 30 miles at the end of it, with a long run in there somewhere.
Running: I ran this morning before work, at the same time as I ran last week before work, and it was too dark to use trails and that was apart from the fact that it was tipping it down, how gorgeous was the shower and cup of tea afterwards. So winter running is just about upon us, sorry to mention it. Despite the many summers I have lived through, it still never fails to surprise me quite how quickly it loses the light even if not the temperature.
Races: “Programmed” in for September, 2 half marathons. The Wissey Runners half on Sunday 4th which takes place in Norfolk countryside and is organised by PeterB’s club. This race is a first for me but my two daughters both live at that end of East Anglia so lunch will be provided, I hope. Then next up on Sunday 25th is the Ipswich half where I normally meet up with Shaun. I expect a sound thrashing from him.
Miscellaneous 1: Bitten by an insect on the inside of my left leg on a run a couple of weeks ago, didn’t see what it was but a painful bite which was only slightly eased by the slap on my leg to get it off. Don’t think it was a wasp, perhaps a horse fly, its still got an itchy red top.
Miscellaneous 2: My old laptop at home was creaking with the weight of photos on it, so decided to go with a Mac. Great decision if you have lots of photos and/or video. Easy to learn the differences between PC and Mac. Just handles image files so quickly I can’t see me changing back. Working on PCs at work has become a chore, so slow especially with all the anti virus stuff most work networks are loaded with.
Miscellaneous 3: Can’t believe my first grandchild is 4 very soon, going to her birthday party next week, wonder what’s in the goody bag?
Miscellaneous 4: Nah, I’ve taken up enough of your time. Have a good weekend.

simonedumergue 'Oh I wanted more miscellany John! Sounds like you are ticking over very nicely with the running and I know what you mean about the daylight hours starting to really change. I don't mind training in the cold of winter - in fact I find it oddly nice - but training in the dark is another matter. Interested to see you are also doing your first GSR - would be great to see if we could arrange a RB meet up as there are a few bloggers going that I would love to meet :-)' added 26th Aug 2011

Firefly123 'Great post, John. I know a lot of Mac users - and I have to say, I'm tempted, being a ipad and iphone user. I've noticed the evenings and mornings drawing in now - not that I'm missing running in the very hot weather.' added 26th Aug 2011

SeanG 'Yep, I guess that we've had our summer then. :-( Sounds like you are ticking over quite nicely. Things with the Town aren't looking so bright now after the 1st game of the season. Our opening games have been no better. The Carling Cup is over-rated IMHO! :-) Heard lots of good things about Mac's etc, could be tempted myself.' added 26th Aug 2011

Rob_Barber 'Sounds like a horsefly - tricksy little buggers - and they just love to eat us when we're sweaty - they have this little thing they do so you can't feel them land on you - certainly feel it once they've got their teeth in though. ' added 26th Aug 2011
