Hello all, hope everyone's well. It's been a busy old week of sport and work. Mainly watching the Commonwealth Games which has been fun.
Training wise, well Saturday saw me take part in my tri clubs end of season relay. The premise is you have a team of four and 10 laps of each discipline. How you distribute the laps depends on your team's strengths and weaknesses. The total distances were 10 x 300 metres open water swim; 10 x 7km bike and 10x 1 mile runs.
I was chosen to do 2 swims 3 rides and 2 runs (due to dodgy calf). Sounds easy when broken down, but I soon realised the plan is to go balls out for the intervals and recover quickly. It was rather hard to say the least. We didn't win the whole day but it was fun and there was a lot of cake on offer.
Wednesday saw my return to track sessions after my calf injury two weeks ago. On the cards were 14x 400 metres. You had 2 minutes 30 to get around so if you dip under that you started again after that time had elapsed. The plan was to make your first rep and last rep the same time. I was able to get consistently 1min38 on all but two middle reps so I was quite happy with that. And the calf held up.
This weekend I've a long bike ride to do tomorrow and a running club 8 miler. It's so nice to be training again. I'm starting to shift the post Ironman weight as well.
Hope you have a great weekend!
