A different form of therapy

I'm not exactly sure... but I think for the most part it's been a month, maybe more, since I last did Zumba. I did it tonight after work and it was amazing. 

Let me go back for a second.  I was doing a lot of group exercise prior to the marathon training along with my base running, maybe 3-4x/week.  Then as the running mileage increased w/training and my hours at work increased, I made the decision that it wasn't worth trying to fit it all in.  I thought this would help me focus more on improving my running.  I wanted to keep doing my classes but my work schedule has SUCKED so even the nights I was gonna make it fit, I would end up working OT and not be able to go, then be in a rotten mood. 

I did go to Zumba tonight.  I committed to it in my mind when I left work today.  I knew since I hadn't been there in a while (and was an all-star at itLaughing) that people were gonna notice and say stuff to me.  So  I prepared myself ahead of time so I didn't take anything too personally as I always do.  I'm pretty sure about 5 people came up to me and said "Long time no see", and asked how I was.  I knew it was good intentions so that was fine and I just told people i've had to focus on the marathon. It was kinda nice just that people noticed that I wasn't there.   That wasn't so bad as anxious as I got just entering the class.  They didn't introduce too many new songs since I had last been gone and even the new ones I picked up very quickly.  I have so much fun doing Zumba...you let loose, dance, and it's an awesome cardio workout.  I felt so good by time the class was over! I completely forgot about work, and felt good about myself (for once) since I am good @ the class.  I think it's a great form of therapy for me as tonight was the best I felt (as a person) in a long time.

What could be an even longer story short, I had a great time tonight.  Depsite training for the marathon I am going to make every effort to start attending the group exercise classes again as I feel It provides me with a venting mechanism for my negative feelings.

I also did my 9 mile run tonight afterwards (on the treadmill since it rained in Syracuse) which went well.  Did some major grocery shopping at Wegmans.  Ate some multi-grain toast w/egg whites & greek yogurt. Delcious.  Suppose to be 65 degrees here tomorrow and sunny, can't wait!
