To Infinity AND Beyond

A new challenge is what I needed and that’s what I have signed up for. I intend to use the VLM as a warm up race for my big challenge of 2010 – the Comrades Marathon in South Africa at the end of May.

Brief recap as to how I got here – started running two and a half years ago, have three marathons under my belt and a host of halfs and a few 10km. Really enjoy running and the last few months have seen a great improvement.

Have not always been a runner and didnt do any exercise for the best part of twenty years before I started running – but firmly believe we can all do anything if we work hard at it and believe in ourselves.

So the next six months or so will see me building up the mileage so that I can face the self styled “ultimate human race” – full details here...

Like it so much I did it again!

Enjoyed the seafront run yesterday evening so much I decided to do it again today but this time as a recovery run. Only problem was that I did it mid morning (think I headed out at about 10:45 so it was warm - about 24 degrees. Glorious weather for a walk along the beach not so perfect for a run but I figure that sometimes you have to do it otherwise if you race in it you will be totally unprepared.

As you would expect loads of people around most of whom were great (saw a few looking at me like I was mad) But one or two dog owners were walking around with those huge dog leads that retract - now the prom must be 10 feet wide or more but the dog walked on one side and the owner the other and it was a bit of a hurdling event. Then some guy with a dog stepped sharp right and I almost ran into him. Not good

Was aiming for a good recovery pace of around 8 minute miles for the 7.5 miles but was around 7/8 seconds a minute faster than this.  Cant complain too much but will see how the weather and the run affect me on my LSR  tomorrow.

Well that's the running week over for now. Good mileage this week and stats

Runs: 6 Miles: 56   Average Pace 7:45 minutes a mile   Calories in fun sized Milky Ways 84

Hope you all have a good weekend. I am off to have my 84 milky ways

I cant eat milky ways otherwise I will end up eating them all, they are two nice and you never feel full after having one.

Good recovery run, 56 miles per week is very impressive.

Speaking as one of those Dog Owners ...... I always keep my mutts under control around runners and would expect the same.

Which docks, by the way ?

I am interested in the Milky Way formula and how many calories for each bar? Also, are the fun bars the same size as the bars found in the two pack?
Thanks

On the bright side, if you trip over one at least you could say you were in the 'lead' (sorry couldn't resist it).

Good running as usual Keith.
