I have a master plan......

I am running the London Marathon on 13th April 2008 (Oh Yeah, i'll be doing it in a kilt!!!)

I am running for the Meningitis Research Foundation.  Meningitis sadly took my baby nephew Mikey 4 years ago and i'll be running the marathon in his memory.  The Meningitis Research Foundation website can be accessed here: http://www.meningitis.org - motivation doesn't come much greater than that!

The Meningitis Research Foundation funds research to prevent meningitis and septicaemia, and to improve survival rates and outcomes. The Foundation promotes education and awareness to reduce death and disability, and gives support to people affected.  The Foundation has the largest research programme of any meningitis charity.

Meningitis and septicaemia affect about 3,000 people every year in the UK and Republic of Ireland. This works out at just over 8 every day, but there are more cases in winter than in summer. Anyone can get the diseases, but babies, children and young adults are most at risk.

One in ten people who get meningitis and septicaemia dies and many more are left with disabilities. No other disease kills faster; a healthy person could die in hour.

£10 provides an hour of in-depth support

£25 provides an hour of a research project into finding a vaccine

£250 funds the 24 hour helpline for half a day

I am under no delision that I am going to save the world by doing this charity run, but I'm damned sure I'm going to do a bit to contribute and to support a very deserving cause - and with your very kind and capable help!

Thank you so much for taking an interest and coming to this link! You are clearly a wonderfully kind hearted and generous person! (I have plenty more compliments and flattery for everyone who is sponsoring me!)

This is a bit 'o' banter with a very serious underlying objective to raise some cash for a clearly worthwhile cause. I don't mind if sponsors are donated for the run or for the cause - it's all the same - all very well received - and all very important. You can be important now, go grab your bank card, stick the details in, leave a wee message / words of support / abuse!! and watch your name pop up below (unless you sponsor secretly!). Thank you kindly.

Cheers again,

Kevin

p.s.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Meningitis Research Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

How good is that?- You pay the tax so CLAIM YOUR ENTITLED GIFT AID!

Many thanks for your support.
