1st time around the world! by Laura_Foster

Hello there blog reader,

Let me introduce myself, my name is Laura and I will shortly be setting off on a round the world trip, in just under 11 hours in fact. Scary stuff!

This trip has been a long time coming and I've been saving for just over a year. I will be travelling for a year and my first destination is India where I will be spending 3 weeks, I am flying to Delhi tonight.

I am then travelling to South East Asia and will be travelling overland in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. I will be spending Christmas and New Year in Sydney and then will travel around Australia for four months. Then onto New Zealand, the Cook Islands and Fiji. And last but not least is America, for two months.  I will return to the UK a year today, 30th Sep 2009. I'm starting to ask myself what have I let myself in for?!

I'm feeling nervous, excited and a little daunted by the massive adventure I'm about to begin. But I'm not looking forward to the emtional goodbyes with my family at the airport in the slightest!

But I'm ready to go. My backpack is fit to bursting although I've tried repacking three times to reduce the amount of stuff. Backpack is sure to lead to savage backache but the only backpacking I've done in the past is a mere 3 weeks in Australia, so I've got a lot to learn about what I need to take and travelling in general.

Here goes nothing, India here I come!
