Countdown beginning!

Aug2720077:18 p.m.

Starting to blog again and remembering to keep logging on.  I have not blogged since using this site for training advice and encouragement for GNR2006.

I have a 10 mile road race on Sunday (countesthorpe Owls 10).  I did this race last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Managed to get a brilliant time for me of 1:31 hrs.  I am kind of hoping to beat it on sunday but in a year my pace has slowed down considerably.   I am not pushing as hard as I did and just prefer to take it a little bit more easier and enjoy the ride!.  Its a very hilly one so will be a good training session for GNR 2007 at the end of sept.

Post my application for FLM 2008 a couple of weeks ago but since then have been interested in searching for a charity place.  I am quite desperate to train  and complete the marathon whilst i am still finding time to train.  I have 3 children and my husband works away from home so training can be difficult.  (leaving work early and using babysitters to name but a few ideas are put to good use).

Ran 9.7 miles last night and what a fab night it was. I refuse to wear a watch on my long runs now because they seem to drag and put negative thoughts into my head.  It definately works.  I set the clock before i leave the house and then race to switch it off when i get home.  last night i went out at 7.15pm and arrived home at 8.44pm. The sun was sinking slowly and a gentle breeze was appreciated.

will now try and keep up to date with other bloggers and get to know familiar names.

bye for now.....Lesley x

P.S  Just a little tip.   I read somewhere  (cant remember where - might have been runner world mag)  that compression stockings are brill to wear after long runs.  Put this to practice last night and legs feel a lot better than usual today.  No dull aching. will definately be using this method after sundays race.

  • Jenoir 'Welcome Lesley and will look forward to reading your posts - I'm interested to know how the Edinburgh marathon was as I plan to enter that if I failing to get into London in 2008. Also I have heard very good things about compression tights - I plan to buy some once I up the mileage as they actually feel like they are massaging your legs or something, so good to see the review!' added 27th Aug 2007
