Back on track, an ice bath thrown in (but only for the feet)

Just back fro my long Sunday run- a steady 13 miles with a couple of fab running partners. We were out just over 2 hours and right now I am treating my ankles to an ice bath! I was initially going to say what a pleasant sensation dunking my weary feet into a bucket of ice was, until I took my feet out, dried them and plunged them back in the ice...
AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
AND i HAVE JUST DONE IT AGAIN
I hope this does some good.
There is a reason behind this, my new running shoes were useless. Having been used to very cushioned trail shoes my poor ankles have been suffering, so much so I had to get new running shoes which are fabulous, but my left ankle is still not right. Hence the ice. Ouch.
After my 9 mile club run on Tuesday and rest day Wednesday I opted for a circuit training class on Thursday to rest my ankle. I found it really hard but lovcircuits in a sick kind of way. So much so that I have considered dropping my Thursday fast run for the circuits class. After lots of umm-ing and ahh-ing I think I am going to keep Thursday as my speed run day and go back to circuits when the marathon training is over.
Saturday I strapped my ankle up and did an easy 6 miles in the snow with a lovely friend (I am so lucky to have such fabulous running buddies, sometimes I run 10 miles feel I have hardly run, merely been out socialising!) My ankle was niggling and annoying but no worse.
And so I find myself today, typing with my feet in ice after a 13 mile run, sipping my sweet tea and really hoping the ice is going to solve my ankle problem.
