    I've gone and done it!!!

I got into the Virgin London Marathong, but not without really doing well with the Half marathon event, fundraising exceeded what I excpected and Banardos gave me a place for April.
    I'm so excited.

It is something I've always wanted to do and the fundraising is going well, the training not so well.

If there is anyone local to Ely who woulodn't mind helping me with the final stages of training even if it is an odd mile here and there I would be very grateful. I need all the motivation I can gather.

I should blog on here more often but have been very busy behind the scenes promoting the events I'm doing withint the forums I'm part of ;)

I'm just SO happy to be acceted into the Marathon :D

Okay so a slow start but it is happening

Thank you all for keeping with me so far.

My training didn't really go to plan due to the broken coccyx so have been taking things slowly really over the last couple of months. However I now feel I will be able to start training.

I have signed up to run the Race For Life in Cambridge on the 1st of June 2008 so this will give me a goal to aim for and as people have already started to sponsor me I simply have to do it :-D

I will start going to the gym now possibly this week (after my son goes back to school) and will start getting myself fit enough to get people more positive in me for running the Marathon next year.

It is very exciting. Send positive thoughts :-)

    Blinking typical

I did sign upto the gym, for those who have been kind enough to ask.

Then an hour after doing so I slipped on a grassy hill and fractured/broke my coccyx on the cemeted playground whilst collecting my son. Not impressed with my timing on this one. More annoyed that I'd only just paid full membership for a loacl gym than actually breing broken bodied lol

It has been just over three and a half weeks since I did it and I think I'm just about mobile enough to start thinking about taking training slowly and steadily.

SO wish me luck.. oh and I now have a pic of me up :-D

    GETTING MOTIVATED

Okay so it is one of the things I have wanted for years and yes it is gonna be tough. once I start training there will be no turning back and when I have advertised my charities etc I shall certainly be not be able to back out :-)

THANK YOU to everyone who had replied to my first blog, I hadn't realised just how quickly people were willing to encourage a complete novice (well to the Marathon, anyhow)

I will be signing up with my gym as of next week, this is hoping I get all of my clothes ready for then, god it is hard at times being a home mum and doing every day things and then needing to find time to actually do this also. Being single helps as I don'thave the distraction of a partner, however I DO NEED a running partner? If only to belittle me when i cock up and stuff :-)

I like to think I motivate others but am really bad at motivating myself really so having someone else to support me and me them would be beneficial if I'm to see this things through, plus it helsp alleviate the boredom of running out on the roads on your own.

So if ANYONE is in the ELY /CAMBRIDGE area (thats Cambridgeshire, not Wales and would like a very energetically enthused running partner could you PLEASE get in touch, obviously hot young males would be top priotity hehe but seriously male or female, as long as we can get along that would be fantastic. :-)

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Overview

    Welcome to my page

I have wanted to run the Flora Marathon since I first heard about it back in secondary school, I used to be one of the years top athletes and I loved my running. However this was over 15 years ago. I have set myself a target of running the 2009 Marathon and have given myself 15 or so months to get ready. I am slightly aprehensive but I know with sheer determination and a huge stubborn streak I WILL do it.

Thank you for reading, I will use this as my progress and humiliation experience :-)
