Blinking typical

I did sign upto the gym, for those who have been kind enough to ask.
Then an hour after doing so I slipped on a grassy hill and fractured/broke my coccyx on the cemeted playground whilst collecting my son. Not impressed with my timing on this one. More annoyed that I'd only just paid full membership for a loacl gym than actually breing broken bodied lol
It has been just over three and a half weeks since I did it and I think I'm just about mobile enough to start thinking about taking training slowly and steadily.
SO wish me luck.. oh and I now have a pic of me up :-D

a_bet_made_me 'having had a spinal injury - BE VERY CAREFUL - take things very slowly and keep an eye on any tiny little niggle in the lower back.. I am sure that your doctors will help you find exercises that will not put any added stress on to the spine... and keep away from bikes - it took me 10 years to be able to sit on a bike in comfort, yet I was riding horses within weeks (shouldn't have been really!) In the gym you should have elliptical trainers which use muscles that we use when walking, but you are not putting stress on the joints - don't attempt any weird machines that "work wonders" until you feel stronger.... basic, and I mean BASIC pilates improved my back no end, so that might be worth a look at, aquafit is another idea - provided docs approve of such movements... Look after yourself, you have a year to do this marathon - YOU CAN DO IT - good luck and hope you recover well and of course keep in touch!' added 5th Feb 2008

MarinaWood 'Thank you all,. I do do pilates thankfully, which has helped no end with my back in the past. Thankfully I am a very quick healer. And I was more dissapointed with myself over doing this an hour after signing up lol Although the pain killers did help an awful lot in knowing I couldn't really go running the following day as anticipated hehe I was flying instead.. :-d' added 6th Feb 2008

Moby_Dick 'Heavens, I bet that hurt! I have back problems so know from experience it's worth taking it slowly, pilates or yoga work though, as you say. Plenty of time to get back on the metaphorical horse - good luck!' added 7th Feb 2008
