Okay so a slow start but it is happening

Thank you all for keeping with me so far.
My training didn't really go to plan due to the broken coccyx so have been taking things slowly really over the last couple of months. However I now feel I will be able to start training.
I have signed up to run the Race For Life in Cambridge on the 1st of June 2008 so this will give me a goal to aim for and as people have already started to sponsor me I simply have to do it :-D
I will start going to the gym now possibly this week (after my son goes back to school) and will start getting myself fit enough to get people more positive in me for running the Marathon next year.
It is very exciting. Send positive thoughts :-)

Moby_Dick 'Committing to a race is a sure fire way to get the old motivation going. For me, it has more to do with fear of failure although that didn't stop me hamming up my last outing. Never mind, onwards and upwards - Race for Life is an excellent cause and am sure you will have plenty of fun doing it. Good luck!' added 3rd Apr 2008

Brooksy 'Great stuff. I entered the Dublin Marathon before even starting any training and without any experience of running. Nothing like commiting to something to keep you motivated through the training. Go for it. Cheers!' added 4th Apr 2008

a_bet_made_me 'A nice wise decision - the race for life will be a great pivot for things to come! I hope the back is better, nothing worse (did have back injury) but, I think it makes us more aware of how fragile we actually are, and that we have been lucky in that we are still able to walk, and run, whilst many others who have had similar injuries are confined to wheelchairs or their movement is restricted.. take the training steadily and the Race For Life will be an enjoyable experience, you deserve a great day!!!!' added 4th Apr 2008

Jogging_Jon 'The race for life will give you something to aim, maybe find a 10K for later in the summer and autumn to give yourself goals to go for. Maybe think about joing your local running club, they will welcome you and give you tips and support.' added 6th Apr 2008
