Another week bites the dust ...

Jul18200910:44 p.m.

Mixed bag this week. Couldn't be bothered Monday and busy all day tomorrow so knew I was in for a five day stretch of running to squeeze things in.

Easy four miles Tuesday and Wednesday. Five on Thursday and another another three last night. Long run today got up to eight miles although the plan said ten. No speed work this week, truth be known I have been struggling a bit with the knee again lately. I have put it down to the increase in milage as well as the increase in speed during running.

MR scan report from my knee came back this week - not good. No problems noted with the bone but thickening of the medial ligament and even worse thickening of the anterior cruciate ligament. I had no idea about the cruciate problem but it makes sense now with where the pain is an when it is at it's worst.

Bit of a chat with my GP who was kind enough not to tell me again that he told me to stop playing rugby ages ago. He's put an urgent referral through to the surgeons - perks of working for the NHS ????

  • TISM 'Doesn't sound wonderful to a non-medic type, but if you've got a referral then it must mean they can do something. Must be the result of playing with those rough boys again, when the doc told you not to. And everyone else gets 'perks' wherever possible, why shouldn't you???' added 19th Jul 2009
