18 miles and a boogie!

Mar1820074:55 p.m.

Did our first 18 miler yesterday (although we think it was closer to 19) and survived.....then less than 2 hours later we went out to a friend's 50th birthday party and drank and boogied the night away to a George Michael "looky likey and soundy likey" (according to his agent/disco).  It was good fun but today my legs feel like lead!  Luckily, it being Mother's Day, I got a lovely long lie in this morning and was treated to breakfast in bed which will no doubt have aided my recovery.

The run itself went fine.  I started to stiffen up - as opposed to hurting - a bit from around halfway but was able to keep going just fine and am sure I could have managed a few more miles when we finished.  Having said that I don't think I have ever been more pleased to see our house.

Chris tried out his new 'nutrition belt' for the first time so we were able to plough our way through the best part of a big pack of jelly babies whilst on the way round.  I am fairly sure I will never eat another jelly baby again after all this is over.

The weather was beautiful after a very cloudy and cool morning watching the boys play rugby, but there was a fairly stiff breeze blowing.  Luckily this was behind us for the last section of the run.

All in all we did OK and felt pretty pleased with ourselves.  3 hours and 15 minutes of running checked off!  Just three more long runs to go......
