With the wind behind us for a change!

Mar2420073:13 p.m.

Today was our second 18 miler for which we made a last minute change of route having woken up this morning and seen that (yet again) the wind was strong and coming straight from the north.  We opted to be dropped off 18 miles due north enabling us to do virtually the whole run with the wind behind us.  It made a lovely change!  About 7 miles from the end it began drizzling but apart from the dire weather it wasn't too bad, and we did have an amazing encounter with a huge herd of deer including three albinos - just the stuff to keep us going.

On the way, Dad kept saying 'this is a very long way' and having driven it all just before running it it did seem very daunting, but it's amazing how once you start and get into a rhythmn the miles just clock up.  Still, home was once again a very welcome sight.

Right now feel very stiff.  Knees are a bit sore.  But the overwhelming feeling is just absolute exhaustion.  I could go to bed right now!  We did stay up a bit later than we should last night and had people over for supper (but I stayed on the wagon which was a bit of a shock for them!) which probably explains why I feel so tired.  Planning on collapsing with the kids (who are also knackered having stayed up until 10.30pm) in front of the television in a minute.
