Fred Hughes - Some Surprise
Jan2320115:45 p.m.
I ran this 2 years ago and recall it was a pretty flat course with a lovely gradient in the second half of the race along some old railway line. So was very surprised to see today it was up hill and over dale or would have been if St Albans were int Northern Shires.
Despite the new course the congestion at the start was even worse than before but that aside it was a fantastic training run which covered the types of undulations that always keep you interested with a well marshalled course and plenty of water stations.
Why the organisers and the police can't close off 600 metres of road at 9.30 for 15 minutes on a Sunday morning leaves me at a loss but I'm sure there must be a good reason.
Still it was great to get out and run with other runners again and enjoy the company and frustrations that comes with sharing the narrow lanes and pavements.
Well 10 miles today and thank you to the St Albans Striders and hopefully 12 next week with the Gade Valley Runners just up the road in Hemel, slowly the ante is being upped.
