Ooops!

Ahem.
After all that hard training last week and big talk about a good long run on Sunday, how did I spend my Saturday evening (and into the early hours of Sunday)? That well-known pre-long run preparation of swilling vast quantities of wine, of course. I gave up looking at my watch at 4 am (don't think my eyes were capable of focusing after then anyway). One of my friends came to see me, you see, and it would have been rude not to join her in a glass or several, she'd come up all the way from Glasgow for a flying visit, so naturally I had to oblige. Plus, I have the willpower of...I dunno, something with very little willpower, anyway. So when I dragged my poor battered body out of bed out of bed at 11am, so dehydrated I felt like I could lie in a bath and absorb water through my pores, because there was no way I could physically tolerate drinking the quantity of liquid necessary to approach an acceptable level of bodily hydration - running looked unlikely, to say the least . But I duly donned my running gear...and sat around in it until it was too late to feasibly run. What a pity. So, it's back to the drawing board this week. Lots of punishing runs during the week, for I am a naughty pig, and we'll see what next weekend brings. Maybe watching FLM with a bottle of lucozade and a bowl of porridge will result in an unbelievably long run on Sunday afternoon. It's good to dream...

a_bet_made_me 'A woman after my own interests in the odd glass or 2..... here's my tip for such evenings entertainment... drink copious amounts of water just as you are going to bed - you still have that nice tipsy feeling, BUT when ou wake in the morning, the water has managed to keep you hydrated, no hangover, and after a good brekki you should be ok to run..... never fails for me!!!!' added 8th Apr 2008

Moby_Dick 'I echo the above, except change that glass to a bottle of course. You know the old motto, if you haven't got a hangover you haven't drunk enough. How about the willpower of a gnat? Or is that a little large do you think?......... Toodle pip! x PS I notice Glasgow is a half, is that correct? Are there any others in the autumn kind of not so far up as Inverness? Have seen delightful holiday cottage not too far over the border which I quite fancy visiting......' added 8th Apr 2008
