About

I thought one marathon would be enough. I was wrong.  I now have to hold my trotters in the air and confess that I'm an addict. Yes, my name's Pi...

Reluctant decision

Apr22200810:37 p.m.

Well, I've decided to pull out of the Edinburgh marathon...no choice, really, given the lack of training.  I think I overdid it last year with 3 marathons, and I've really struggled for motivation this winter.  There's been the niggling knee, too, as well as the no-yes-no FLM saga, beause of which I will never run with former training partner again!  That had a huge part to play in my demotivation early this year, and I've learned my lesson, folks!  Let's face it, a marathon is for most of us a personal battle in many ways, and when you compromise anything in training or on the day, you pay for it.  I have learned this lesson over the past year!  So, I have a new goal for the autumn which will remain secret for the time being, but may well involve another friend of mine and yours....all I can say in way of identification is...blubber!

  • bigbeff 'I'm sorry to hear about that - I am just going to try and get round Edinburgh, if I don't aim for a time, I will complete it, even if I end up walking! Hope your new challenge keeps you occupied, I look forward to hearing about it! :-)' added 23rd Apr 2008

  • Runnernotajogger 'You've obviously made the right decision for you. I think so many of us run for the wrong reasons which takes all the enjoyment away from the racing. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Love T x' added 23rd Apr 2008
